Google Latitude will be retired.

Dear Google Latitude users

According to Google “Products being retired include Google Latitude in Google Maps for Android, Latitude for iPhone, the Latitude API, the public badge, the iGoogle Gadget, and the Latitude website at” [Official source]. This issue affects all of us on August 9th, 2013.

As you’ve already guessed Google Latitude will stop to work in our apps such as gMaps for Windows PhonegMaps for Windows8 and Simple Latitude for gMaps.

But no panic! Google offers an alternative like Google+. It “allows you to share your current location, across Google products, with the people and circles you choose. Once you have enabled location sharing, you can change who can see your location or completely turn off location sharing at any time.” [Official source].

The alternative, which Google replaces Latitude all android devices built into the system and there is no API to access to this service yet.

Now we are looking for a way to integrate with “Google+ share location API” or Google Latitude replacement for our apps. And we looking forward to hear your suggestions. Please, leave comments with your ideas or sent us them to the following email:

We appreciate your support and active participation in the applications development. Have a wonderful day!
